Since we started the internationalisation consultancy, we firmly believed that one of the great doors of access to the national market was the European Performing Arts Fair for Children (FETEN), which is held annually in Gij贸n during the month of February-March.
But why is this the case?
As for the whole of Spain, it is a meeting point for professionals from the children’s performing arts sector in Spain. It is defined by its large number of stage performances of a wide variety of techniques and artistic styles, as well as professional meetings linked to the sector to contribute to and enrich the entire cultural ecosystem (companies, programmers, distributors, etc.).
Data from the 2022 edition
– 50,000 spectators
– 530 profesionals and 186 virtual accredited practitioners
– 76 companies programmed (Spain -14 different CCAA-, France, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, and Argentina).
– 200 functions
– 21 exhibition spaces
These figures only serve to highlight the importance of this fair in taking the pulse of stage creation for family audiences throughout the state.
So, seeing the importance of this fair, we decided to present our show No moon for the official programme just before the premiere at the end of September.
We firmly believed that the proposal was worthy of being part of the official programme and that it could surely be well valued by professionals from the rest of Spain. It has been many months of doubt as to whether or not we would make it, but finally, in mid-December, we received a phone call from the artistic director, Idioia Ruiz de Lara, confirming that we had been selected.
We won’t deny that when we heard it, we started shouting and jumping for joy. Yes, we are like that! But the occasion deserved it. The conversation with the director was wonderful, full of affection, joy, and other things (which we will obviously keep in our memories and recollections; we don’t have to explain everything 馃槈).
So, from this moment on, we focus on working to arrive at the day we perform in Gijon with the best possible intentions, hoping that our proposal will make its way to the rest of Spain and that Feten can be the seed that will bring this about.
We’ll be telling you more soon!
